In recent times, many complaints regarding the side effects of using third generation contraceptive rings have started surfacing all over the world. A majority of the users of this ring have complained about physical ailments like sinusitis, nausea, headache and weight gain after prolonged use of the product. Serious repercussion like heart attack and stroke can affect women who have a habit of smoking.

When the blood clot breaks off inside the vein it gets carried by the blood stream and reach the vital organs of the body. When this reaches the lungs a blockage in blood flow can occur. This condition is known as pulmonary embolism. This can be fatal for a victim. A number of NuvaRing users have faced this ailment. DVT usually occurs in adults aged over 60 but many women who are younger than that have become its prey.

Similar to other variants of contraceptive products and birth control medicines, NuvaRing has got its lot of limitations. Therefore a woman should talk with a veteran gynecologist to know whether using the product would be suitable for her or not. It is effective for pregnancy prevention but the risks that it brings should not be undermined.
