As a coach, I'm privileged to be part of a process where my clients create a new and exciting vision for their lives and take action towards it. The excitement is palpable as they connect with what's truly important to them. But often they'll hit what I call, the "How Hurdle". "How will I do that?" or "How can I get myself from here to there?" The excitement starts to deflate as they focus on not knowing the clear answers to the "How" Hurdle.

An hour before our family was coming for Thanksgiving dinner my husband, the perfectionist, disappeared. He ran to the store to buy matching folding chairs. At that time we were living in a house that had a huge kitchen but no dining room, hence no dining room set that included matching table and chairs.

It's taken me years to really understand what "don't take it personally" means and how to do it. I used to think that I should just ignore the comments, criticisms or "well-meaning" opinions; that I should turn a blind eye, the other cheek, or let them go like water off a duck's back.

When I spotted an expensive watch that I like, I would have a series of thoughts. Firstly, I would have thought of the pleasure that I could derive by owning it. Secondly, I would think of ways to make or save enough money so that I could buy that watch. Thirdly, I would take actions to make or save money based on the ways that I had thought of. Finally, I would buy the watch when I had enough money.

According to the law of allowance if you are willing to receive good things, you will receive them. But you must believe you can actually receive them. When you say yes to something or confirm it, you attract more of that something into your life because that is what you focused on. When you say no to something, you attract more of that something into your life because that is what you focused on! Try to be more consciously selective about what you choose to focus your attention on, rather of going into resistance about something you don't desire or don't concur with, alternate your ideas around to what you do want. Allow what you want to enter into your life, by yessing your way through life. Say YES to abundance, say YES to great relationships, say YES to work that you love, etc. You only job is to identify what you want, get in the feeling place of having it and then allowing it to flow into your life!
