The games are over, and there will be no more soccer practices for awhile. There's a certain amount of relief in that, but most parents will miss the fun and camaraderie of watching their kids run all over the field having a great time and working on their skills. Thanks to the efforts of the coach, the kids improved tremendously and learned the principles of hard work, discipline, and sportsmanship.

Sports stadiums, halls and venues have gone through a transformation in recent years. A combination of age, new legislation and changing fashions and trends has led to the redevelopment or even rebuilding of many venues across the country which in turn has open up a world of possibilities to people and areas that wouldn't have had such opportunities before. The latest project is the series of venues that are being developed at Strattford City in London for the 2012 Olympic Games.

Chelsea football club would not have come into being without the construction of their Stamford Bridge ground. Stamford Bridge was built in 1877 as an athletics track. Gus Mears was a football enthusiast and had purchased the land. He realised that at the turn of the century London failed to provide a single team to the Football League First Division. Mears had spotted the potential for a football club to play at an old athletics ground at Stamford Bridge.

Bill Parcels AKA “The Big Tuna” in football is regarded as one of the best NFL coaches of all-time. He has coached in 3 Super Bowl games in which he has a record of 1-2, two with the New York Giants and one with the New England Patriots. One of the two-loss came after his kicked missed a 47-yard field goal as time expired.

Moving closer to obtaining a place in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Spain was able to expand its lead in Europe’s Group 5 after crushing Belgium 5-0 this Saturday in La Coruña, Spain. Even though the team has won all seven games of the qualifiers, however, it still has not qualified for the FIFA World Cup, a fact that astounds the Spanish players. Spain’s first chance at qualifying comes this Wednesday; if the team can beat Estonia in Meridia and Bosnia-Herzegovina fails to beat Turkey, Spain will seal its place in South Africa next year.

We are about to head into an international week, a series of World Cup qualifiers from all over the World. Football lovers such as myself live for these types of tournaments, they are bigger than all the big leagues in Europe, because they generate interest from even the most indifferent of football supporters. I however, fear for the next few major world tournaments. FIFA and UEFA have clearly made some fundamental mistakes in selecting the hosts for the next few tournaments, and I can only hope that I'm proven to be wrong.

I have been an England supporter for 22 years now, after being drawn in by the excitement of the World Cup in 1986. Vaguely remembering Lineker's goals, my dad's anger as Maradona handing Argentina victory and the disappointment when being made to go to bed after the game are overshadowed by the key fact that I was now an England fan.

The 2009 Major League Soccer season is well underway, and the teams are already trying to make a name for themselves in the league. Stars from each of the teams are already emerging and drawing spotlight, but they aren't the only ones working hard. For FC Dallas, the coaching staff has been the behind the scenes force helping the team try to raise their standing in the league. They tied the Seattle Sounders FC on May 16, bringing their record to 1-6-2 in the Western Division. The winner of the final match as well as earning a place in the UEFA cup in the next season will also earn the 2,000,000 pounds prize money and the losing team will get 1,000,000 pounds. The current holders of the FA cup are Portsmouth who beat Cardiff City 1-0 in the 2007/2008 final match. The favorites of this year will be between the top four clubs in the United Kingdom, these being Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal but as always there will be teams from outside the top flight looking to challenge these teams dominance. This whole scenario places Wolver Hampton and Birmingham in the picture.
