The current No.3 of the world and Serbian Novak Djokovic conquered his first title of 2009 by beating the Spaniard David Ferrer in straight sets 7-5, 6-3 at the Dubai Championship this past Saturday. This is Djokovic’s 12th title of his career and it places him closer to the No.2 spot of the rankings, which is owned by the Swiss Roger Federer. The No.1 of the world Rafael Nadal and the No.2 of the world Roger Federer, dropped the tournament before it started due to injuries, while Andy Murray withdraw in the middle of the tournament due to a virus infection that will keep him out of the Davis Cup as well.

The French tennis player of 23 years-old Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, won the third ATP title of his career in the SA Tennis Open at Johannesburg, South Africa in an hour and 48 minutes without dropping a set. Tsonga beat his countryman Jeremy Chardy in great way 6-4, 7-6(7-5). Both players played at their best but the experience of Tsonga in crucial moments gave him an edge to win the title. Tsonga won a total of $79.000 and his counterpart Chardy got the second place with $41,500. This ATP Tour final was the first one for the 21-years-old and No.61 of the world Jeremy Chardy.

The No.4 of the world of 23 years old, Andy Murray, captured his fourth ATP title of the year at the Madrid Masters in Spain by beating the French and world No.10 Gilles Simons 6-4, 7-6(8/6). It was a closed game but at the end the victory was for the British player, especially after his 10 aces and saving two set points in a tiebreaker.
