I am studying several books (in addition to my Kcon studies) right now that deal with the structure of different types of organizations, the power of Authority, books on Non Violent Communication (which I am using as source material for several courses I am putting together on Empathy and conflict resolution), and material that helps me develop strategies for presenting Kcon to the world in general. Of course all these materials have to be properly digested and adapted so that they don't conflict with our philosophy. This is quite a challenge, but also an exciting one. It is exciting for me because the whole purpose is to help others. Otherwise I would not be interested in any of this material.

Going to Vaikuntha. We had a very interesting discussion on today's SB verse 4.12.36: "The self-effulgent Vaikuntha planets, by whose illumination alone all the illuminating planets within this material world give off reflected light, cannot be reached by those who are not merciful to other living entities.

Identifying, classifying, and naming things gives humanity a means to compartmentalize and deal with an anxiety riddled existence. Our minds predilection for disdain towards the unknown provides the driving force for this coping strategy. Compartmentalizing global data locally into small known quantifiable pieces allows our minds to logically sequence this information and form relationships between them.

This morning in Bhagavatam class we discussed anger and how to deal with it. This discussion was in the context of the description of Lord Boar speaking in such a way as to make Hiranyaksa angry. "The Personality of Godhead said: Indeed, We are creatures of the jungle, and we are searching after hunting dogs like you. One who is freed from the entanglement of death has no fear from the loose talk in which you are indulging,for you are bound up by the laws of death."

Yesterday one devotee was commenting that on each level of ISKCON management we find devotees blaming the persons on the level just above them for their problems. That is if one is a cook in the temple for example, one will blame the temple commander, if one is the temple commander one will blame the vice president, the VP will blame the President, and the president will blame the GBC or guru.

Hiranyaksa means one who has his eyes always on gold. Many years ago when I first joined the movement I would feel a definite antipathy towards persons like Hiranyaksa. Now I feel quite different (hopefully I have not become a demon!).

Through reading a variety of vedic books individuals are able to gather knowledge about a great many things. Some of things include how to give of yourself selflessly to others, but learning how to devote yourself to others without being taken advantage of is another.
